In Say no to Mongeham airfield!
When this campaign started, some contributors were quick to ridicule the suggestion in the planning application that the proposed airstrip might include facilities for (silent) electric aircraft. I thought you might be interested to read a recent news item from ‘Flyer’ magazine (https://www.flyer.co.uk), which shows a solar-powered charging point for electric aircraft installed at Old Buckenham Airfield in Norfolk. The article goes on to say that the airfield is applying for planning permission for up to six further charging points, and is assisting other projects to promote zero-emission aviation. The project founder is quoted as saying, “Over the coming months we look forward to demonstrating what impact off-grid electric light aircraft can have for rural communities”. Exciting, huh?

.... it seems that DDC is having to remedy the woeful under-provision of Traveller Sites in its area. Have a look at DCC's published criteria for evaluating potential sites, and this pretty much meets them all. Perhaps a small, well-managed airstrip is not such a bad prospect, after all!
