Many things are possible, Keith, including keeping our countryside a tranquil and safe environment for the people and local communities. That has to be worth fighting for.

Hello Keith. You have an interesting take on the term ‘moving forward’. The area in question is notably tranquil and home to many species of wildlife; some, very rare. Establishing an airfield with all the associated paraphernalia that comes with it, would obviously impact the countryside, wildlife and aesthetics of the area. (Reports and supporting evidence available to download from the DDC portal). I’m afraid that I don’t know what the landowner will do if the application is rejected. But since the field will continue to be arable farmland, perhaps he will continue to farm it.

@Keith Jones Apologies for butting in, but I have read this exchange with some interest and have to say that I find your comments baffling. As far as I can see, focusing on the precise ‘number of flights’ or ‘issue of fumes from aircraft operations’ is a little like questioning the 'precise tonnage' of the iceberg that hit the Titanic. The problem isn’t the numbers, it is the loss. The location of the proposed airfield is simply wrong.

The second and third paragraphs in your reply are of course distractions from the central point. If I choose to go to the seaside, I am open to the idea that my feet might get wet and I might collect sand in my sandals. If I choose to live in the countryside, I am open to the reality that there will be mechanised farming from time to time. It does not mean I am open to the idea of having an airstrip established a few hundred metres from the end of my garden.

@andy Sir, with respect, I think you should you know that we know that many years passed between the advent of the petrol motor engine and the electrically powered vehicles which you refer to. All of which rather renders your argument, null and void.

@andy As I look out my window, I don't see a road in the middle of the field that I understand is where you wish to establish an airstrip.
