That term 'NIMBY' always makes me smile. It's used as a derogatory term to try to undermine people trying to take care of their own immediate environment, protecting it from unnecessary and uninvited change. Be honest with yourself, who on Earth doesn't do that? If we ALL took care of our own back yard wouldnt that actually improve the entire planet?

Most of us are utterly horrified by the application which will ruin the beauty of the area and the peace we currently enjoy in our own homes and gardens. Sadly, we don't have the same audience to draw support from, as the applicants have by advertising this application to a huge community of flyers and asking for letters of support to be sent to DDC. No doubt the local authority will see through this and consider with the correct weighting those considered and genuine concerns of local residents, as opposed to the generic and emotionally distant supporting statements. There will be many, many considered and detailed objections. I guarantee it!

Yup I'd be up for that. Why ruin more countryside and blight people's lives when there's a ready made strip 2 minutes away (by plane!!)

There are a large number of homes and business owners close to the proposed site who are very concerned by the idea of small planes regularly buzzing around and who feel will be affected by it negatively. A lot of us feel that it would detract from the peace and tranquility we sought when we moved to the countryside. You may see it as 'entrenched' many of us see it as fighting for the peace we sought and found when we moved here. We're fighting a small group of people wishing to break our peace and spoil the nature of the place for a pastime, a hobby. There are sufficient airfields around. Why create a new one?

I doubt there is much similarly between the noise of a bus and a plane!

No one is disputing they are a reality, but do any of the members of the flying group wishing to use the airfield own one or even propose to?
