Martin clearly lives under a rock as all the pilots are currently continuing with their hobby from lots of other airstrips already in use in Kent and can join them anytime heโd like to... why wait?
Saw you all in Deal yesterday, didn't realise the team from Maypole were looking to use land locally to be able to continue with their hobby. Thanks to you all I now know and have been on the planning website to register my approval for the project. Can't wait to join them in the air.
That term 'NIMBY' always makes me smile. It's used as a derogatory term to try to undermine people trying to take care of their own immediate environment, protecting it from unnecessary and uninvited change. Be honest with yourself, who on Earth doesn't do that? If we ALL took care of our own back yard wouldnt that actually improve the entire planet?
1000 houses with the occupants all driving cats which are a mix of petrol diesel and hybrid propulsion will produce pollutants far in excess of the aircraft using a small airfield. My son has a pub in Devon. When the wife and I drive there it is a four hour journey in a diesel car doing 35 mpg. We occasionally fly down in a little two seater plane which is powered by a 4 stroke petrol engine which achieves 40 mpg and takes 1 1/2 hours for the trip. Those are the facts ๐
That would really make him a fortune.
So if the farmer changes his application to allow a new housing estate you would support it.
Developers where I live are building 1000 more houses. I would much rather have a small grass airstrip with associated buildings and all the wildlife that are attracted to such places.

Are they developers? I thought the application was for a small grass airstrip with a small number of hangars suitable for small private aircraft with an addition of clamping type pods which have sprung up on farms everywhere in the countryside as part of the drive to diversify and survive.
