New petition to help engage wider public

You're correct, the road network is full of problems, but it plays a practical part in our lives and we accept the balance.

A new airstrip doesn't, it adds unnecessary noise and pollution to the environment and gives nothing back save a few happy enthusiasts.

@Jelly tots Kevin is right, of course. The local Green Party senses a political opportunity and seeks to capitalise on understandable, if largely unnecessary, local misgivings. Promulgating false information will do your cause no good at all, and will serve only to make local residents appear foolish. When the full planning application is submitted, by all means lodge your objections on genuine planning grounds, of which hysteria is not one.

@Paul Osborne Thank goodness for some sanity, Paul. But what about the 500-odd people who have already signed this petition on the basis of hysterical untruths? Leaving aside the ridiculous claims regarding electric aircraft (which are no more than experimental at the present time), it is sad to see the local Green Party claiming that a grass airstrip, where only the runway would be closely mown, threatens biodiversity: in actual fact, studies suggest that it is likely to provide an environment encouraging of a far wider range of species than managed farmland.
