The application includes an airstrip, 2 hangars, 20 light aeroplanes, 10 glamping pods and helicopter access.
What do you think about it? Do you want it? Tell us here.
Off to Calais(wind permitting) for a romantic bacon baguette for two in the bleak 1970's decor terminal.
Better make it last whilst you wait 2 hours to charge up your aircraft.
Well worth £160K!!!!!
So not practical at all then 😤
On the contrary, very practical. The 50 minutes doesn't include "reserve" power (fuel) and you can do a lot in that time.
For example 50 minutes at 100 knots is about 95 statute miles. Aeroplanes fly "as the crow flies" i.e. in a straight line, so that will easily take you to France... and back :)
Currently there are only THREE electric planes in the UK.
The purchase price is upwards of £160.000 and total flying time is 50 minute so.........
Once upon a time, very recently, there were only a few electric cars in the country. That number has grown rapidly recently. Even the pandemic seems to have had no effect on slowing the increase.
Where did you get the idea that there are only three in the UK? The CAA only records "UK Registered" aircraft. There are aircraft register in many other countries based in the UK, many aircraft registered in the USA are based here for example.
High purchase price is misleading, just like when "buying" an electric car. Many of them are operated on leases.
50 minutes is pretty adequate for a lot of GA operations, btw.
I totally agree.
Electric Aircraft are too far in the future and are currently thought as unviable.
@burroughs I am happy to share facts, not my "thoughts", which I'm not sure would be appreciated.
Nothing is lost.
I would rather people made decisions based on facts and evidence rather than supposition.
@andy Dear Andy
Wow those electric planes in the link you provided are very impressive.
4 out of 6 are what look like light commuter aircraft.
1 is in abstract form.
Leaving the Pipistrel, 2 seater, 50 minute duration aircraft.
Which one do you have your eye on?
@garydeathstar I have my eye on all of these, and others besides.
